Below you'll find several examples of trailers, one-sheets, ads, and promos I've written for major studio releases. I've worked on hundreds more, but this should give you a pretty good idea of my range. If you want to see additional samples, just ask.

Brokeback Mountain

"Love is a force of nature"

This project really was a labor of love - and I couldn't be happier with the resulting line. Fun fact: The studio was very hesitant to market this as a love story... so I had to cull every mention of the word love in my initial submission. For months the line was "Destiny is a force of nature." I know, not even close. Fortunately someone at the studio grew some Rocky Mountain oysters and went with the line as it should be.

Side Effects

"One pill can change your life."

I was happy this tagline made the one-sheet, but I had a few other faves, including:  "Everybody takes something" (a subtle reference to the greed of the main characters) and "A prescription for disaster".

Sherlock Holmes

A fun movie. A fun challenge: Use three words to convey the promise of this blockbuster.

Dreamgirls

Teaser

I wrote this copy-driven teaser for Dreamgirls - as if writing the tagline for Brokeback Mountain wasn't enough to secure my status in the pantheon of gay movie advertising writers. Yes, they have a pantheon for that.

Guess Who

"Some in-laws were made to be broken."

Even if the movie is forgettable, at least the tagline can be memorable.

World Trade Center

Trailer

This was a challenging project. Unlike most films, this one was based on an all-too-real story that didn't need any dramatic help from me. Ultimately we settled on a single sentiment of hope, expressed in graphic cards at the very end of the piece.

The Chronicles of Riddick

Trailer

OK, this was definitely not an Academy Award-winning film. But I would have happily surrendered all of humanity to an evil galactic empire for the chance to write voiceover for Dame Judy Dench. I also thought the copy run at the end was pretty cool.
